ARTS, HEALTH AND TECHNICAL WORKSHOPS For everyone in the
community
An innovative new arts, health and technical workshop based
community centre opened in nearby on September 18, 2000. The Community Zone will
educate the whole person from cradle to grave.
Situated at 5 minutes walk opposite the Nature Garden in
Palace Road (cross the South Circular at Christ Church and continue up the
pedestrian road for about 20Oyds) this dynamic Project will offer a toddler
group and creative children's clubs; young people will be stimulated with
cartoon animation, DJ skills, creative writing wQr,kshops and a Livewire cafe
at subsidized prices.
Tlle whole community from adolescents to the elderly will be
offered workshops in animation, creative writing, Dl skills, film
production, website design, complementary health, stress management and
positive ways to raise children. All workshops are supported by a concessions
policy fmanced by Lambeth Council as the Community Zone aims to be open
access regardless of financial status to everyone who has a serious commitment
to learn.
The project director Karen Francis says 'The Community
Zone is the venue for anyone wishing to develop their abilities either to
open new careers or to further their personal interests. Everyone will find a
place in the Community Zone'.
Tasters for the courses begin in late January and early
